Most Fuel-Efficient Cars

Most Fuel-Efficient Cars

The Environmental Protection Agency numbers listed here are based on 45% highway, 55% city driving. The organization assumed 15,000 annual miles at $3.51 per gallon. Originally calculated to determine CO2 emissions, the EPA's miles per gallon rating, in the past, had been notoriously spotty. When tests were previously conducted entirely in labs, agency calculations had been off by as much as 50 percent. This year, however, the EPA instituted new guidelines that better mimic real-world conditions

The World's Fastest Cars

The World's Fastest Cars
Jacqueline Mitchell
Gas prices are up. The economy is down. For some, neither matters--all they want is to be able to drive faster than anyone else on the road, whatever the cost.

And the cars that can deliver that promise are built solely for speed. They're not the kinds of cars that are particularly good for anything else, such as dropping off the kids at school (unless they're running exceptionally late that day) or picking up a carton of milk on the way home from work.

These cars reach obscene speeds in mere seconds, the same amount of time that normal cars need just to warm up. Just ask Tom duPont, publisher of duPont Registry, a gallery of fine automobiles.

"A Bugatti test driver took a $100 bill and plastered it on the dashboard," recalls duPont, who was invited to strap into the passenger seat for a demonstration drive. "He told me I could have it if I could grab it once we took off."

The French-made Bugatti Veyron races from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and effortlessly cruises to a top speed of 253 mph. Most probably can't imagine what that feels like, but duPont learned firsthand.

"The car accelerates so fast that you can't touch [the $100 bill]," he said. "You can't move your hands.”

A latest car made in japan is going to introduce new technologies.it has many specifications….its really cool.

production vehicle

The production vehicle is tipped to be based on the F430’s platform remember that the 288 GTO and F40 were based on modified 308 underpinnings – but feature a 600hp V10 in a lightweight 1000kg package, with a lengthened wheelbase of around 104 inces, a $500,000 price tag and a production run of 300.

Ferrari is looking

The buff book’s sources report Ferrari is looking to see the Ferrari Millechili hit the streets as a 2010 model. One approach is reportedly being based on the Millechili concept, which as you’ll recall was essentially a chopped-down Enzo crafted out of cardboard and plastic holding the promise of environmentally-friendly specs. The production vehicle is tipped to be based on the F430’s

Ferrari supercars

Up coming Ferrari supercars based on FXX and Millechili concept
A second supercar could appear based on the FXX development program, we think it far more likely that one vehicle will prevail, borrowing on themes and components from both the Millechili and the FXX test-bed.With the Enzo now out of production, and no mega-super-car in the Ferrari stable, the prancing stallion brand believes the Millechili concept, first revealed at the automaker’s 60th anniversary extravaganza, to move from the realm of conceptual toilet paper tubes to production.

Vehicle SummaryThe Lincoln MKS luxury sedan competes with the Acura RL,
Infiniti M and Cadillac STS. Lincoln has at least one advantage going in:

Lincoln has at least one advantage going in: The MKS is based on the Ford Taurus, a car whose full-size dimensions mean more interior room than most of the midsize offerings in the luxury-sedan segment.New for 2010The Lincoln MKS gets Ford's newest V-6 engine: a twin-turbocharged, direct-injected V-6. Other updates include an updated Sync system, available adaptive cruise control and a self-parking system.ExteriorIt's difficult to tell the MKS is related to the Taurus, as Lincoln has done quite a bit to differentiate its version. Styling elements include Lincoln's familiar waterfall grille, cut by a vertical strip with Lincoln's crossbar logo. The thin, horizontal headlights look a lot like the ones on an Acura TL.Around back, the taillights flow toward a high bumper. There are chrome elements on the window frames, door sills and outlines on the lower air dam. The EcoBoost MKS features a unique grille, side rocker panels and a rear spoiler.* Available 18-, 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels* Keyless-entry keypad* Capless refueling system* Fog lamps* Automatic high-intensity-discharge headlamps* Dual chrome exhaust* Optional dual-panel sunroof* Optional adaptive headlightsInteriorInside, the MKS' interior comes with lots of leather; it covers the seats, door panels and dashboard. The center controls flow seamlessly toward a center tunnel that supports the gearshift and two independently adjustable armrests. For 2010, an updated Sync system provides real-time traffic, turn-by-turn navigation, and news and sports updates. The MKS' passenger volume totals 105.9 cubic feet. That beats the Cadillac STS (102.9), Acura RL (99.1) and Infiniti M (105.2). The difference is most noticeable in the backseat.* Leather seating surfaces, shifter and steering wheel* Powered tilt/telescoping steering wheel* Dual-zone automatic climate control* Ford Sync system* Heated front and rear seats* Ventilated/cooled front seats* Optional voice-activated navigation* Optional THX 14-speaker surround-sound stereo* Optional adaptive cruise control and self-parking systemUnder the HoodThe MKS' 3.7-liter V-6 is a unique engine, not found on the Ford Taurus. It works with a six-speed automatic transmission. For 2010, the MKS gets a new EcoBoost, twin-turbocharged, direct-injected V-6 powertrain. The engine has the power output of a 4.6-liter V-8, but with V-6 fuel economy. According to Ford, the EcoBoost V-6 will achieve 16/25 mpg city/highway. The EcoBoost powertrain comes standard with all-wheel drive.* 273-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 with 270 pounds-feet of torque* 355-hp, twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 with 350 pounds-feet of torque* Six-speed automatic transmission* Available front- or all-wheel driveSafetyFord's Sync system also features a 911-assist feature that connects the vehicle's occupants to an emergency operator when an airbag deploys.* Side curtain airbags* Traction control* Antilock brakes* Electronic stability system* Reverse-sensing system* Optional rearview camera

McLaren P11 latest

McLaren has taken dozens of orders for its new P11 supercar, CAR has learned. A special department at the F1 team and road cars’ Woking headquarters has launched a register of interest where potential customers can sign up for the new 200mph slingshot from Surrey.
Codenamed P11, the new sports car is designed to extend McLaren’s racetrack expertise to a wider audience. While today’s SLR, jointly developed by Mercedes-Benz and widely considered a disappointment, costs an eye-watering £320,000, McLaren’s new baby will cost somewhere between £150-200k. A relative bargain then. Click ‘Next’ below to read the full story.

2009 Audi Cross Cabriolet Quattro Concept Car

The Cross Cabrio combines the genes of a typical dynamic soft-top convertible from Audi with the all-round qualities of a fully fledged SUV.

Le Mans 24 Hours 2007

Audi will be very pleased to have retained their Le Mans 24 Hours title after one of their cars crashed out in the second hour of the race, and a second suffered a similar fate 15 or so hours later.
The Number 3 Diesel engined R10 driven by Mike Rockenfeller crashed out early on Saturday and was travelling backwards when it hit the safety barrier. Later, with less than a third of the race left to run, it very much looked as if Allan McNish, Rinaldo Capello and seven time winner Tom Kristensen might triumph in the number 2 Audi, but they too suffered an accident after 16 hours when a wheel came off and Capello briefly became a passenger as the car ploughed into a tyre wall. Fortunately for Audi, their number 1 car was in second place at this point, and driven by Germans Frank Biela, Marco Werner and Italian Emanuele Pirro, was brought home to a second successive Le Mans 24-Hour victory for the Audi R10 Diesel.
The Audis were pushed hard in the race by another Diesel in the shape of Peugeot's new V12 engined 908 LMP cars driven by Sebastian Bourdais, Stephen Sarrazin and Pedro Lamy. The Peugeot 908 car came second having completed 359 laps to the winning Audi's 369 laps in 24 hours, and a second Peugeot piloted by Jacques Villeneuve, Nicolas Minassian and Marc Gené was running in second with just over an hour and a quarter to run when unfortunately it suffered mechanical failure.

MPH 06

As well as being a great fun show, MPH offers a great exhibition of cars from the latest popular cars, to the most desirable of supercars. This year the live show was even better than last year's MPH05, and the side show offered even more exotic machinery for visitors to drool at. Visitors to the MPH06 show at Birmingham's NEC also enjoyed the Classic Motor Show, while Earls Court visitors will find that their MPH06 is supported by MPH Classic.

1939 Maybach SW38 Spohn Sport Roadster

German car manufacturer Maybach existed for a relatively brief period of time (1921-1941), yet managed to build more than its share of superlative automobiles. Considered a somewhat less flashy rival to Mercedes-Benz, Maybachs still had plenty of style and performance. The 1939 Maybach SW38 Spohn Sport Roadster is one of the most beautiful Maybachs ever, with thoroughly modern technology such as an electrically welded and cruciform-braced chassis, and fully independent coil suspension. Classic cars and vehicles like this were featured at the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
